Punting FAQ

Here we will try to address the most frequently asked questions that visitors to this site have about punting in Cambridge

How long does a punt tour last?

Punt tours usually last around 45 minutes, depending on traffic and how fast the river is flowing

Where does the punt tour go?

Our punt tours start and finish at our punt station adjacent to the La Mimosa restaurant. The trip travels along the Cambridge Backs, taking in some of the most famous Cambridge colleges along the way e.g. Kings, Trinity, St John's & Queens colleges.

How much does it cost to go punting?

This Weather Widget is provided by the Met Office

You can either book an entire punt (or punts) or buy an eticket and share with other groups on the punt. By booking in advance you get a significant discount compared to the on the day prices.

Group Punt Tours On the day In advance
Adults £15 £12
Students/Seniors £12 £10
Children £8 £7
Private Punt Tours On the day In advance
5 Seater Punt £80 £60
12 Seater Punt £120 £100

What happens if it rains?

If you wish to cancel a booking we require a minimum of 24 hours notice. Any bookings cancelled within 24 hours of the departure time will forfeit their deposit, or if full payment has been made in advance, 30% of the booking fee.

The 24 hours notice period takes into account poor weather conditions, at least as much as it is possible to do so. If on the day you are due to go it is raining we may offer to delay your departure (should this be possible) until the weather improves. We can provide umbrellas.

We would always advise checking the weather forecast prior to setting out on your journey to Cambridge, especially if you are travelling a long way. We don't feel it is fair to our staff to keep them standing around for long periods in bad weather conditions in the hope that things will improve.

We reserve the right to cancel bookings if the need arises. We will always provide as much notice as possible.

Do you do self hire punting?

We do not offer advanced booking for self hire punting. During quiet periods we may rent out some of our smaller punts for self hire but this is determined on an ad hoc basis.

Can we bring our own food/drinks on board?

Yes, you are more than welcome to bring your own refreshments. Alternatively we can organise food and drink for you at an extra cost.
